They will be awarded due to them coming to Christian Eriksen\u2019s aid when he collapsed on the field due to a cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udfc5 This week, Denmark captain Simon Kj\u00e6r and the medical team that saved the life of Christian Eriksen will receive the 2021 UEFA President\u2019s Award.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/UEFAawards?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#UEFAawards<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 UEFA (@UEFA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UEFA\/status\/1430153298720460800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 24, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Denmark played Finland in their first match of the Euros on the 12th of June 2021 at Copenhagen. Before the end of the first half, midfielder Christian Eriksen suddenly collapsed on the field. It was a scene of sudden shock and horror, as players swarmed him so that their privacy was not invaded. The medical team timely resuscitated him using CPR techniques and a defibrillator. He was moving before going to a hospital nearby. He was revived and is now thankfully, healthy.<\/p>\n<p>UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin described them as \u201ctrue heroes of Euro 2020\u201d. He said, \u201cThis year, the President\u2019s Award transcends football,\u201d he said. \u201cIt serves as an important and eternal reminder of just how precious life is and puts everything in our lives into the clearest perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mogens Kreutzfeldt, chief medical officer for UEFA EURO 2020 in Copenhagen says that they rushed to the field to do their job and did what they were supposed to do but we\u2019re very happy with the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Kjaer, the captain got it for starting the CPR procedure and forming a ring to protect Eriksen while he was given urgent medical attention.
