After three members of England\u2019s national team were targeted following their loss in the European Championship final, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced intentions to ban anyone guilty of online racist abuse from attending soccer events.<\/p>\n
Johnson spoke out against the racial abuse directed at three Black players after they failed to score penalties in England\u2019s shootout loss to Italy at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Johnson also addressed the House of Commons that it was time to take action. According to him, the government intends to add online racism to the list of violations that might result in fans being prohibited from matches.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we are doing is taking practical steps to ensure that the football banning regime is changed so that if you are guilty of racist abuse online on football, then you will not be going to the match,\u2019\u2019 Johnson said during his weekly prime minister\u2019s questions session. \u201cNo ifs, no buts, no exemptions, no excuses.\u201d<\/p>\n
If a fan is guilty of a \u201crelevant offence\u201d related to a match, such as disruptive behaviour or weapon possession, courts have the authority to issue a banning order.<\/p>\n
