According to the PA news agency, Manchester United and England forward Marcus Rashford could be out for around 12 weeks following shoulder surgery later this month.<\/p>\n
On the way to the Euro 2020 final, the 23-year-old made five substitute appearances for the Three Lions, where he hit the post with a penalty kick in a penalty-shootout loss to Italy. A groundswell of support has gathered around Rashford following the racial abuse that he endured following the penalty miss.<\/p>\n
Now he is slated for surgery to fix a persistent shoulder complaint. It was understood by PA that the forward wanted the surgery done directly after Euros, but due to a lack of availability of the requisite surgeon the procedure will not take place until later in July.<\/p>\n
After surgery, Rashford may return to training within five weeks, but it will take him around 12 weeks to return to action, ruling him out through October. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer\u2019s side opens their Premier League campaign on August 14, while England plays five World Cup qualifiers in Rashford\u2019ss absence.<\/p>\n
During the second half of the 2020\/21 season, the United academy graduate admitted that among other physical issues a shoulder complaint had hindered his performance. \u201cObviously I am not performing at my best and what I know I can perform to,\u201d Rashford told PA three weeks ago.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhatever that is down to, it doesn\u2019t really matter because it has been going on since early on in the season. I managed to get through the season with United.\u00a0I think I had 36 goal involvements, so I can\u2019t look back at the year and say mmm, I should have taken time off to do this and do that. That\u2019s just not the way I look at things.
