Arsenal has hired Manchester City\u2019s set-piece specialist coach Nicolas Jover to replace Andreas Georgson, who has returned to former employers Malmo.<\/p>\n
Georgson leaves after just one season in north London and is set to become the Swedish club\u2019s sporting director. He will work under and closely with Malmo\u2019s director of sports, Daniel Andersson.<\/p>\n
Jover has worked as a set-piece coach at Brentford, like Georgson. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will know him as the pair spent the first half of the 2019-20 season together at Manchester City after Jover moved north.<\/p>\n
Jover is set to join Arsenal from Manchester City, after having spent the past two seasons working at the club.<\/p>\n
Like Georgson, Jover\u2019s main focus will be on set pieces. He was the club\u2019s first full-time set-piece specialist at Manchester City and was a key in making Brentford a force from set-pieces in his time there.<\/p>\n
The north London club finished 17th in the Premier League for set-piece goals in 2020-21 (with six goals), and this shows that there is definitely scope for Arsenal to improve in this regard.<\/p>\n
Georgson will leave Arsenal after just 11 months, after he joined from Brentford in August 2020. He was a common sight on the touchline at the Emirates, often barking instructions to players during set-piece situations.
