Chelsea\u2019s midfielder Billy Gilmour tested positive for COVID-19 and gave a huge blow to Scotland\u2019s hopes of making it beyond the group stages of a major tournament for the first time at Euro 2020. He had picked up the man-of-the-match award in Friday\u2019s 0-0 draw against England at Wembley in his first international start. Now, he will miss Tuesday\u2019s clash against Croatia at Hampden as Scotland requires to win to grab a chance to progress to the last 16.<\/p>\n
The Scottish Football Association stated, \u201cThe Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland National Team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for COVID-19. Having liaised with Public Health England since the positive test was recorded, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow\u2019s UEFA Euro 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.\u201d<\/p>\n
No other members of the squad have been required to self-isolate which means they were tested negative for COVID-19 as a result of coming into close contact with Billy Gilmour at Scotland\u2019s training base in Middlesbrough. On the other hand, John Fleck was also forced to isolate for 10 days before the tournament after testing positive during a training camp in Spain.
