The Indian domestic season will only start when it is safe for young players to travel within the country for their Ranji Trophy matches, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said.<\/p>\n
There is a huge uncertainty with regards to India\u2019s domestic tournaments as IPL will be happening in October leading to a curtailed season due to coronavirus.<\/p>\n
The 2020-21 domestic season would have started with Vijay Hazare in late August followed Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Last season\u2019s Irani Cup was cancelled due to announcement of Lockdown 1.<\/p>\n
The former India captain when asked about domestic and junior cricket told Sports Tak, \u201cIt is necessary, but it will happen only after coronavirus is under control. When it is safe, only then, especially junior cricket.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ganguly reasoned that India is a large country and teams need to travel from one place to another for matches, and hence domestic cricket cannot start until everything is safe.<\/p>\n
