Newcastle has set its sights on signing Joe Willock from Arsenal on a permanent transfer. They could also offer a player in a swap deal to Arsenal in order to offset the transfer price.<\/p>\n
Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman could be offered to Arsenal in a possible swap deal plus a cash package to secure the services of Joe Willock. Arsenal is looking to fill the homegrown quota with an English goalkeeper and the transfer fee received from Willock\u2019s sale could be directed towards this.<\/p>\n
Willock joined Newcastle on loan on 1 February 2021 for the remainder of the 2020\u201321 season. He had an excellent loan spell at Newcastle where he scored in 6 consecutive Premier League games becoming the youngest player in Premier League history to do so at the age of 21 years and 272 days, a record previously held by\u00a0Romelu Lukaku. Four days later, on the final day of the Premier League season, he scored again to equal the Newcastle United record of consecutive games scored in, with club legend\u00a0Alan Shearer.<\/p>\n
The 2-year old English midfielder enthralled Newcastle fans and coaching staff alike with his performances and work rate and this has resulted in him being placed as a priority transfer target on the club\u2019s list. However, signing Willock will not prove to be easy or cheap as Arsenal value him in the region of \u20ac30 to 40 million and are unwilling to back down from their asking price.
