Viswanathan Anand plays out draws in seventh and eighth rounds at Zagreb event

Five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand drew both of his seventh and eighth session games in the Rapid tournament of Croatia Grand Chess Tour on Friday.

Indian Grandmaster moved to second place following a win and two draws on day two after six rounds of Croatia Grand Chess Tour.

Anand played black pieces and was clenched to a draw by Ivan Saric of Croatia in 48 moves in a Sicilian Four Knights variation game.

Former world chess champion Anand had before, experienced the honours with Jan-Kryzstof Duda, the Polish Grandmaster in the seventh round in a 74-move Ruy Lopez game. He has been off to a varied start of the Croatia Chess Tour tournament.

Viswanathan Anand as yet, has won two, drawn five and lost one game to top ranked chess Grandmaster of France Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, so far.

All the games of rounds seven and eight were drawn incidentally.

Results: 8th round- Viswanathan Anand drew with Ivan Saric, Ian Nepomniachtchi drew with Jorden Van Foreest, Anton Korobov drew with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Shakriyar Mamedyarov drew with Anish Giri, Alexander Grischuk drew with Jan-Kryzstof Duda.

7th round- Anand drew with Duda, Grischuk drew with Korobov, Saric drew with Mamedyarov, Giri drew with Nepomniachtchi, Van Foreest drew with Vachier-Lagrave.
