Virat Kohli’s Blue Rising Team sets sail in UIM E1 World Championship

Renowned cricketer Virat Kohli has unveiled the Blue Rising Team, marking his entry into the inaugural season of the UIM E1 World Championship, the world’s first all-electric race boat competition. Co-owning the team with Adi K Mishra, CEO of League Sports Co. (LSC), Kohli’s venture will see the Blue Rising Team facing off against electric racebird teams led by sports icons like Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, Steve Aoki, Didier Drogba, and Sergio Perez.

Virat Kohli said: “I want to inspire people to have a competitive spirit and to raise awareness about sustainability issues, something I am becoming more and more passionate about as we build a family. I can’t wait to cheer for our male and female pilots racing for our team. I'm looking forward to lining up against the likes of Tom Brady, Rafa Nadal, Sergio Perez, Steve Aoki and Didier Drogba – we’re going electric, we’re going flying over the water and we’re going to try to win it for The Blue Rising.”

A global cricket sensation, Kohli boasts an Instagram following of 260 million and is celebrated for his exceptional skills and influence on and off the field. Now, he’s channeling his passion for sustainability into the E1 Championship, a competition sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the international governing body for powerboating.

The UIM E1 World Championship aims to create a dynamic racing platform based on electric technologies, focusing on safeguarding urban waters and coastal areas. With up to 10 teams and 20 mixed-gender pilots, the championship will bring thrilling races to iconic cities worldwide, starting in February 2024.

Adi K Mishra expressed excitement about partnering with Kohli, emphasizing their shared values of sustainability and gender inclusion. Additionally, Kohli’s involvement is expected to draw new fans, enhancing the championship’s impact on sports and purpose.
