Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur praises World Youth Archery Championship winners

Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur interacted and congratulated the World Youth Archery Championship winners for their outstanding display in Poland.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has met and interacted with the World Youth Archery Championship winners. He congratulated them for making the entire country proud as Team India registered a total of 15 medals at the Archery Championship in Poland. The medal counting stands as – 8 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze. 

Anurag Thakur praised the already existing talent that the country has at the grassroots level. “The initiatives taken under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to develop schemes such as the Khelo India to develop and nurture the grassroots level talent are showing results in Championships like this,” said Anurag Thakur to ANI.

The gold medalists included the Cadet Compound Women’s Team, the Cadet Compound Men’s Team, the Junior Recurve Men’s Team, the Cadet Recurve Mixed Team, the Junior Recurve Mixed Team,  the Cadet Recurve Men’s Team, the Cadet Compound Men’s Team, and Komolika Bari, who won the gold in the Junior Recurve Women’s Individual event.

Komolika Bari who won two gold medals in the individual and mixed doubles events had also won the coveted medal at the 2019 World Cadet Championships. Komalika who is a TATA Academy product became the National Champion in the Women’s Individual Recurve at the 41st NTPC Junior Archery National Championship that was held in Dehradun earlier this year in March.

The silver medalists include Sakshi Chaudhary from the Compound Junior Individual event and Priya Gurjar who was victorious in the Cadet Compound Individual Event.

The bronze medalists Rishabh Yadav in the Compound Junior Individual event, Manjiri Manoj, Parneet Kaur in the Compound Cadet Women’s category, and Bishal Changmai in the Recurve Cadet Individual event while also claiming a bronze in the Cadet Recurve Women’s Team.
