Toyota Thailand open 2021: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chiraj Shetty defeated in Men’s doubles semi-finals

On Saturday, the Indian men’s double duo Satwiksairaj and Chiraj got defeated in the men’s doubles of the Thailand open by Malaysian’s duo Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 18-21, 18-21 in closely-contested affair.

The Malaysian pair will face Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin of Chinese Taipei.

Rankireddy and Shetty played very well despite losing in straight match which lasted for 35 minutes. During their match against Choi Sol-gyu Seo and Seung-jae of Korea the Indian duo has reached the last four stage without dropping a game, which included a straight game win over Korean duo.

However, on Saturday, the Indian duo didn’t make it up to Finals and lost the game against Malaysian pair.

In the first game, the Malaysian pair took slight 11-10 lead into the mid-break. Although being put under pressure in the first game 21-18 Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik maintained themselves to stick in the game.

In the second game the Malaysian pair seemed more comfortable whereas Indian pair fought hard to stick in the game.

To open the conclusive 15-11lead the Malaysian duo played aggressively, whereas Rankireddy and Shetty kept defending themselves most of the times.

The score was 20-14 Malaysians were just one point away from winning the game , a little hope raised when Indian pair won the four points but as Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik held their nerves and win a point and secured their berth in the Finals of Thailand open.
