
ATP No. 6 Matteo Berrettini announced a “minor operation” on his right hand through his official social media handle. The Italian had withdrawn from the ongoing ATP Masters event in Florida Miami Open. The top-seeded player played his last game on March 16 at the Indian Wells Masters where he was defeated by Miomir Kecmanovic in the last 16.
Berrettini on his Instagram wrote that he along with his team are monitored by medical experts since he pulled out from the Miami Open 2022. Wimbledon finalist stated that undergoing a “minor operation” was the “best solution to ensure a full and quick recovery.” The tennis professional from otaku further wrote that the operation went “extremely well” and he took over Instagram to happily announce this news.
Berrettini also told in his post that he with the help of his team and his doctor, are discussing his comeback on the court and that he will be updating about his return in the coming days when the plan is “finalized”.
