Huge upset at the Wimbledon Championships 2022 as the 32-year-old Alizé Cornet defeated Word No. 1 Iga Swiatek with a score of 6-4, 6-2 by winning the final six games. Cornet is having the best Slam year of her lengthy career and now she ended the Polish professional’s winning streak of 37 games.

The No. 1 WTA player Swiatek’s remarkable streak had seen her match Martina Hingis’s mark of 37 straight victories set in 1997. However, following this surprise, the 21-year-old Polish player won’t be a part of Wimbledon’s second week. She was a heavy favourite following her stunning run this year. The player from Poland outlasted top-quality players and bagged five WTA titles back to back as well as the French Open title. Swiatek won her second career major in Paris, France, the first one was also clinched by her at the Roland Garros tournament in 2020.
