Wimbledon 2021: Pilskova defeats Viktorija Golubic in the quarter-finals, marches towards semi-finals

Karolina Pilskova is the former world number one tennis player. She is currently at number 13 which is her lowest rankings in five years. She powered into her first semi-finals at Church road on Tuesday. Along with eight aces and 28 winners, she defeated Swiss Viktorija Golubic by 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Karolina said, “This means a lot, especially after not having many good weeks before Wimbledon. It feels like dream. I just believe that at some point I will find my game.”

Pilskova made her ninth main draw appearance at Wimbledon and thrashed the world number 66 Golubic in the second game of the second set to dominate the match. Once again, she broke in the eighth by shutting out her opponent much like she has the nagging questions that have crowded her. She added, “Former players would ask, what happened there? Why you are not playing that well?”

Pilskova further said, “I usually have an answer, but you are not always ready. You don’t want to hear these things, whether it’s true or not. Then, of course, the internet. That’s the biggest problem. Then one week I’m not in the top 10, and it’s like a huge drama. ”

After thrashing Golubic in the quarters, now she will face Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals. On the other side, Aryna had defeated Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals. Now they both will face each other in the semifinals.
