US Open: Top-ranked Novak Djokovic progresses into the second round after beating Danish teenager Holger Rune

The Serbian tennis player has already made his impact in the US Open by defeating his first-round opponent, Danish teenager Holger Rune in four sets.

The Serbian professional tennis player Novak Djokovic enters into the second round of the US Open 2021 main draw. The main draw of the tournament started on 30th August. The Serbian had his first game on Tuesday night against the Danish teenager named Holger Rune. Top-seeded Djokovic defeated the Danish professional tennis player in four sets. It was a thumping start from the World’s No.1 tennis player in the ATP rankings.

The Serbian dominated in all the sets played against the Danish. The first set was ended with a score of 6-1 with the Serbian winning it by a comfortable margin. In the second set, Holger made a comeback and won by 6-7. This was the first and the last set won by the teenager in the US Open 2021 as Novak won the other two by 6-2 and 6-1 respectively and registered himself for the second round. The 18-year-old Danish player couldn’t progress but showed great intent. It was tough for the teenager as he was playing with the World’s No.1 tennis player (as per ATP rankings).

Top-ranked Serb who is looking for his 21st major and 4th US Open title completed 17 aces against the Danish player Holger Rune in the first round of the US Open 2021. After this dominating victory, Novak will now face the Dutch professional tennis player Tallon Griekspoor in the second-round match which is been scheduled to play on Thursday, 2nd September (IST).
