US Open: Stefanos Tsitsipas knocks out British Andy Murray in a five-set thriller in the first round of the Grand Slam

The Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated his first-round opponent Andy Murray in five sets. The game was indeed thrilling between the World no. 3 in ATP rankings and the former no. 1.

The US Open has been already started and the games are thrilling and gruelling. Another gruelling game was ended in the favour of World’s No. 3 in the US Open first-round match. In the first round, Tsitsipas was tied against a British professional tennis player named Andy Murray. This heated and gruelling game ended with the Greek tennis player winning in five sets.

Stefanos Tsitsipas played exquisitely well in the first round match against Andy. As the game begins, the very first set was won by the British player with a huge margin of 2-6. But, the World’s No. 3 kept his head up and showed why he is in the top 3 in the World ATP rankings. He won the second set with a close margin of 7-6 After losing the third set by 3-6, Tsitsipas thrashed Andy in the fourth and fifth set with the score of 6-3 and 6-4 respectively. The Greek professional had a 77% win on the first serve meanwhile the former US champion had only 69%. It was an entertaining game as the fans were back in the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. They were back in the stands after a year as they weren’t allowed to enter the stadium by the officials because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the victory in the first round of the US Open, the Greek international has now been scheduled to play against Adrian Mannarino of France in the second round which will be played on Wednesday, 1st September.
