US Open: Alexander Zverev advances to the semifinals after defeating Lloyd Harris

German tennis player Zverev has reached the semifinals of the US Open 2021 after defeating South African Lloyd Harris in the quarter-final match on Wednesday night.

German professional tennis player Alexander Zverev has won the quarter-final match against Lloyd Harris of South Africa on Wednesday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The German has now qualified for the semifinals of the US Open 2021 after winning against the South African.

It will be Zverev’s fourth semifinal game in any major Grand Slam tournament. Before this, the 24-year-old reached the semis in the Australian Open 2020 and French Open 2021. The World No. 4 (ATP rankings) was the finalist of the 2020 season’s US Open and was defeated by Dominic Thiem in the final match. The German seemed pretty relaxed while playing the quarter-final game against the South African. The first set was quite tough, from Zverev’s perspective. But still, the German managed to get 7 points and won it by a close margin of 7-6. As compared to the first, the second set was more comfortable for the World’s No. 4 as he clinched the victory by 6-3 and leads the game by 2-0.

However, the third one was more joy to watch as even after Alexander Zverev took 4 points at the start Lloyd was completely in the game and fought back hard to win it. Despite closing down Zverev’s points in the third set of the game, the 24-year-old South African couldn’t snatch a victory. Thus, leading by 3-0, it was a well-deserved victory for the German professional. After winning the quarterfinals, Zverev will be seen in the semifinal match of the US Open 2021. It will be interesting to see with whom the German ties up in the semis.
