Unstoppable Iga Swiatek! Five titles in a row for No. 1 WTA player

Swiatek successfully defends her title in Rome, Italy and has now bagged five consecutive WTA 1000 titles this season so far.

Iga Swiatek has done it again in Rome Italy. The No. 1 WTA player clinched her fifth WTA 1000 title in a row at the Italian Open defeating African No. 1 Ons Jabeur. The Polish professional hammered the Tunisian comfortably in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

Swiatek, with her victory over Jabeur, has now extended her winning streak to 28 matches. She has now won two back to back titles in Rome and has successfully defended her Italian Open trophy. This makes her the only third-youngest player to have won a second title in Rome, older than Chris Evert and Gabriela Sabatini. Jabeur, who won Madrid Open previously from which Swiatek had withdrawn as she needed some rest, was on 11-matches winning streak.

World No. 1 Swiatek is yet to lose a match on clay. She will next be in action at the upcoming Roland Garros tournament. Former French Open champion Swiatek has also won five of her nine WTA 1000 competitions. The player from Poland has defeated some quality players this tennis season. In her last four WTA 1000 finals, other than Ons Jabeur in Italy, she came past Aryna Sabalenka at Stuttgart Open, Naomi Osaka in Miami, Maria Sakkari at Indian Wells Masters and Anett Kontaveit at Qatar Open to make it five for her so far.
