Swiatek will be crowned No. 1 in the WTA singles rankings following her tremendous run this season having won Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters and now a trophy in Florida. Her victory against the Japanese professional today was the 17th straight win. She will be the first player to be on top of the ranking from Poland on Monday.

Swiatek had defeated Maria Sakkari at the BNP Paribas Open earlier, and Anett Kontaveit in Doha to clinch her previous two WTA 1000 titles back to back.
Meanwhile, Osaka and Swiatek have been seen a lot of times interacting with each other off the court, be it sharing stories of the victories or congratulating each other. The two were captured discussing their favourite ice cream flavours during a live communication shared by WTA official social media handle. The fans were so excited to have an Osaka-Swiatek meet up in the final as it happened!
