
Swiss legend Roger Federer, through a post on his official social media account, announced his retirement from his professional career. The 20-time Grand Slam champion wrote that the upcoming Laver Cup next week in London will be his last official tennis tournament.
While everyone was expecting for his comeback, the 41-year-old who dominated the tennis world for 2 decades announced his retirement. This news shocked the sports fraternity. Meanwhile, Federer’s rival and friend Rafael Nadal writes a heartfelt letter wishing Swiss a happy retirement.
Nadal on his social media stated that the announcement by Federer hit the Spaniard “personally” and that he wished the say would have never come when Federer stopped playing tennis.

Federer has not played a single official tennis match since his quarterfinal exit from the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. He will be seen with his rival Nadal at the Laver Cup next week.
