Rafael Nadal reaches Indian Wells Masters final, beats Carlos Alcaraz

The victory means Rafael Nadal will be taking over as World No. 3.

Rafael Nadal dusts off 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz to reach the final of the Indian Wells Masters 2022. The 35-year-old beat Alcaraz in three hours and 12 minutes with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

The victory over Alcaraz means, Rafael Nadal will be replaying Alexander Zverev as World No. 3 after the tournament. The 21-time Grand Slam champion stays undefeated this season extending his winning streak to 20-0.

Carlos after his exit from the BNP Paribas Open 2022 said, “I thought I could beat him a lot of times, but Rafa has 1000 lives,” reported Jose Morgado. He further said that he was satisfied with his performance and exits the tournament “happy” because he now knows how to “play against these top guys.”  Meanwhile, Nadal on the other hand praised his 18-year-old opponent and said, “Carlos is incredible. A great rival.”

Nadal will be facing Taylor Fritz, who came past a very strong Andrey Rublev in the semis. Both the players will be in action tomorrow at the Indian Wells final for the battle of title.
