Novak Djokovic has nothing but respect and kind words for rival Rafael Nadal. The Serb is impressed with Nadal’s stunning run this year despite injuries. Djokovic is one of the top favourites at the Wimbledon Championships which starts with its main draw on the 27th of this month. The major started with its qualifiers on June 20th and the championships will run until July 10.
Djokovic couldn’t defend his Australian Open title due to visa cancellation following vaccination mandatory rules, the first Grand Slam was won by rival Nadal defeating current World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in an intense match. He also grabbed the record-extending 14th Roland Garros title in Paris, France.
The last time Nadal and Djokovic met on the court was at this year’s French Open quarterfinals where the Serbian was defeated on June 1. The player is impressed with the 36-year-old’s run this year despite the injury. Having surgery and winning a Grand Slam just after it is something to be appreciated and that’s what Djokovic did. The No. 3 ATP player from Serbia appreciated his fighting spirits. “Just hats down for what he has achieved. He he keeps on doing on the court,” said Djokovic about Nadal as reported by tennis journalist Christopher Clarey.
