Lloyd Harris to face World number 4 Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals, beats Reilly Opelka in the round of 16

The South African professional Lloyd Harris has defeated Reilly Opelka in the round of 16 in US Open 2021, will face Alexander Zverev in the quarters.

Lloyd Harris has been tied up with the World No. 4 in the Association of Tennis Professionals named Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals match of the US Open 2021. The South African defeated the American professional tennis player, Reilly Opelka in the round of 16 by 3-1. Lloyd who hasn’t won a single Grand Slam title until now was never gone too far in any tournament. This is his longest run in any major Grand Slam. The 24-year-old was qualified for the fourth round after defeating Denis Shapovalov with three straight-set wins.

Before this, the third round was Lloyd’s greatest ever finish, which came in Australia Open 2021. But, now after defeating Regards Reilly Opelka in the round of 16 on Monday, he has qualified for the quarter-final round. Out of four sets played in this match, three of them were won by Lloyd. Even after getting defeated by 6-7 in the first set he made an exquisite comeback in the match and won all the remaining three sets by 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 respectively.

After clinching this victory in the round of 16, he will now be facing Alexander Zverev who is currently ranked at 4 in the World ATP rankings, and came to this round after defeating Italian Jannik Sinner in the round of 16. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, 8th September 2021. However, the timings of the quarter-finals are not been decided yet.
