Laver Cup 2022 gets interrupted by a climate change activist, Stefanos Tsitsipas reacts

Greek Tsitsipas, with a straight sets victory with a score of 6-2, 6-1outlasted Diego Schwartzman of Argentina to give an excellent start to Team Europe. 

During Friday’s day session, a climate change protester stormed onto the court and set his right arm on fire, briefly interrupting the 2022 Laver Cup.

The event happened during Stefanos Tsitsipas’ singles match against Diego Schwartzman. Neither player, the officials officiating the match, nor any spectators were hurt. The protestor was pulled off the court at the O2 in London by security personnel while wearing a white t-shirt that stated, “End UK Private Jets.”

The Laver Cup is now featuring some of the best athletes in the world, including Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. In the Friday evening session, Federer and Nadal take on Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe from the United States in the doubles clash. This will be the Swiss legend’s final competitive match before retiring.

Prior to that, Murray will compete and attempt to increase Team Europe’s lead when he takes on the Australian Alex de Minaur in singles.

Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsiaps who is also representing Team Europe said, “It came out of nowhere.’ Tsitsipas further said after winning his match to put Team Europe 2-0 up at the Laver Cup interview, ‘I had no idea what this was all about.”
