Johanna Konta withdraws her name from the Montreal Open

Johanna Konta, the British professional tennis player has withdrawn her name from the National Bank Open in Montreal due to injury.

Johanna Konta has dropped out her name from the Montreal hard-court event because of her knee injury. Due to this injury, she will no longer be seen playing in this National Bank Open. Britain’s tennis player was forced to remove her name from this Tournament. She was scheduled to play the last-16 game against Coco Gauff at the Canadian Open.

The 30-year-old played in the Viking Nottingham Open which was played in June. She won the tournament on June 13. She performed very well in all the matches of the Nottingham Open. She defeated Nina Stojanovic of Serbia in the semifinal match. Her final match in this tournament was against China’s Shuai Zhang. She played exceptionally well in this game and defeated Shuai Zhang with a score of 6-2 6-1. But unfortunately, she couldn’t be able to win this National Open in Montreal. There was no other option, She had to withdraw her name from the Montreal tournament due to her knee injury. Now that, she is not in the tournament anymore, Coco Gauff will be advanced to play the quarter-final match.

She didn’t play in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics games because one of her team members was tested positive for COVID 19. She was advanced to the last-16 game after beating Elina Svitolina in the second round. The fans are hoping that her knee injury is not so major because they want to see her in the US Open which will be starting on August 30.
