Carlos Alcaraz has been on every tennis page and all over the newsfeed following his stunning run. The player from a qualifier last year to a top favourite this year at the Roland Garros 2022 has come a long way. The 19-year-old from Spain is in the top three heavy favourites to win the French Open title other than Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Alcaraz has already won four ATP titles this season so far with last at the Italian Open defeating Nadal, Djokovic and Alexander Zverev back to back on clay to bag the trophy in Rome. With his capacity of beating quality players, the Spaniard has become a heavy threat on clay. Currently, in the third round of the Roland Garros tournament, Alcaraz is scheduled to face Sebastian Korda to book a spot in the fourth tomorrow.
Following his tremendous run, fans have started comparing him to King of Clay and 21-times Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal which according to French tennis player Richard Gasquet is not okay. The player was asked in the comparison between the two Spaniards, Is Alcaraz stronger than Nadal? and he said, “No way! At his age, Nadal had already won Roland-Garros twice,” reported by RMC Sport. He further said that it will not be repeated. “He is already extremely strong” but cannot be compared to someone who has won the Grand Slam in Paris, France 13 times.
