Iga Swiatek is Indian Wells Masters 2022 champion, defeats Maria Sakkari

Iga Swiatek becomes the first player from Poland to win the Indian Wells title. The title is her third WTA 1000 in the last 10 months extending her winning streak to 11 matches.

What an incredible run for the Polish professional at the Indian Wells Masters. The 20-year-old beat Maria Sakkari in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the BNP Paribas Open trophy. The victory will take Swiatek up at No. 2 in WTA Rankings while Sakkari will be processing to No. 3.

Newly crowned Indian Wells Masters’ champion of the women’s singles, Swiatek had dusted off former World No. 1 Simone Halep in the semifinals of the tournament while Sakkari came past defending champion Paula Badosa.
