Naomi Osaka faces the earliest exit in the first round of the French Open tournament against Amanda Anisimova. The American beat the four times Grand Slam champion with a score of 7-5, 6-2 to reach the second round of the major in Paris France.
The Japanese professional, coming back from a mental health break did not go through a very good year. She was also beaten by the same opponent in the third round of the Australian Open. Her best results were reaching the final of the Maimi Open before losing to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and advancing to the last four at Melbourne Summer Series 1 where she lost against Veronika Kudermetova.
The former World No. 1 seemed to have gotten her form back in Miami where she beat quality players but her inconsistency was seen even after the event in Madrid, Spain as she had a round of 32 departure with the hand of Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Meanwhile, Anisimova will now face Donna Vekic for the second-round battle on May, 25 IST at the Roland Garros tournament.
