Swiss has not appeared at any tournament since his Wimbledon quarterfinals exit while Nadal, coming back from injuries opened his 2022 tennis season with a trophy at the ATP Cup 2022 Summer Set followed by his triumph at the Australian Open 2022 tournament where he clinched a record of his 21st Grand Slam.
Roger has recently talked about his tennis return as he is sidelined with knee injuries going through double surgeries in 2022. The 20-times Grand Slam champion finally can be seen with the Spaniard to defend the Laver Cup title for the fifth time.
“I am really looking forward to getting back into competition later this year and Laver Cup is very much an important part of my plan,” said Federer reported the Laver Cup official site. He further stated that Nadal texted him on social media after the Laver Cup in Boston the previous year and asked him to pair with him for doubles in London.
The duo has paired only once in life at the tournament in the year 2017 as teammates.
