Novak Djokovic, the tennis legend with several accolades to his name, has added just another to his long list. The Serbian has ended the year as the number-one ranked tennis player in the singles category after winning the Paris Masters tournament. This is the 7th time the tennis legend has achieved this feat, beating the previous best by Pete Sampras, who did it 6 times in his career.
Djokovic had a great year of tennis all around the world. He won three of the four Grand Slam tournaments he participated in. After winning Australian, followed by Roland Garros and Wimbledon, he also had the opportunity to complete a golden slam this year. However, it fizzled out of his hands, and Djokovic had to settle with an Olympic bronze to his name. Later, he also missed out in the US Open, which would have helped him complete his calendar slam.
None of it matters to him now, as he stands on top of the standings 3000 points clear of Daniil Medvedev, the US Open Champion. The Russian has 7640 points to his name, while Djokovic tops the table with 10940 points. The ATP rankings, which were released on Monday, show other considerable changes too.
