The Spaniard was unmistakably clear about his goal throughout this historic season which was to win grand slams, despite being a teenager in just his second full year on the ATP tour. The teen sensation methodically ascended to the top of his profession. Not some unspecified time in the future or after he had a bit more experience, but right now. He was prepared.

Alcaraz has spent a lot of the last few years smashing age records, so he will grab the most impressive one that might last for a very long time. The 19-year-old from Spain, who will achieve the feat for the first time in his career on Monday, will become the youngest player in ATP history to do so. More than a year younger than the previous record holder, Lleyton Hewitt, the Spaniard is the first teenage No. 1 the men’s game has ever had at the age of just 19 years and four months.

Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud with a score of 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-3 on a momentous night at the US Open to win his first Grand Slam trophy and claim the top spot in the Pepperstone ATP Ranking. The Norwegian was also in the race to be in the top spot. If none of them reached the final, Nadal would have attained the top spot in the rankings.
