Australian Open: Sam Stosur aspirations to win the title blows away

Sam Stosur loses to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the second round of the Australia Open on Thursday.

Australian Tennis player, Sam Stosur has to see off of her home title as she loses to Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the second round of the Australia Open on Thursday.

Russia’s top tennis player, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova beats Sam Stosur by 6-2,6-2. Last month, Sam said that she would focus only on the doubles after her 20th singles appearance at her home Grand Slam back in 2002.

She was having a great run at the tournament after defeating Robin Anderson in the first round on Tuesday, but this time Anastasia did not let the former US Open champion succeed.

Sam said that she ran for everything as hard as she could and draw it out a little more. She appreciated her opponent by saying that she played great today. Sam Stosur world ranking 21 has twice reached the fourth round of Melbourne Park.

She has received more Gram Slam successes apart from the homeland. Her most known win was against Serena Williams at the finals 2011 US Open and also a runner up at the French Open.

She believes that she had achieved more than she could ever think. She had dreamed of this ever since she was a little kid and couldn’t ask more.

She is glad that she has had amazing experiences in her homeland and across the world as a tennis player.

After her loss against Anastasia at Kia Arena, she received a standing ovation from the crowd.

“I had goosebumps when everyone was clapping for Sam. She’s such a great human being and an amazing tennis player”, said Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to Reuters.
