Australia Open 2022: Naomi Osaka begins her campaign with a win

Coming back after an indefinite break and overcoming depression, Naomi Osaka begins the journey of AO22 with a victory

Naomi Osaka began her Australia Open with a stunning win of 6-3 6-3. Naomi won her first game of the Australian Open 2022 against Camila Osorio.

Osaka was witnessed playing calmly in her first game of AO22 and won with a defensive performance. The former world number one Naomi after withdrawing her name from French Open and Wimbledon over personal issues has now revealed that she looks positive and is delighted to challenge herself.

After depression and personal issues, Osaka quotes as reported by TOI, “I would say I feel more comfortable in my skin if that makes sense. Like there’s always the human nature to feel uneasy, to want to please everyone and stuff like that”

Naomi quoted that the issues were related to the post-match conferences while talking to the media. After a sorrowful exit from US Open in September, she decided to take a break. But Naomi believes that she is ready and seems to be at a better place now with a dedicated and positive-approaching mindset.

Osaka reveals that she just wants to have fun and get excited in court, rather than expecting a win in every game. She also quoted that she came here to be happy and play her game. Osaka didn’t play the warm-up games before the tournament in Melbourne as her “body got a shock” after playing for the first time in four months.

After defeating Colombia’s Camila Osorio, Naomi looks positive towards the next game against Madison Brengle from America, who almost won before Dayana Yastremska pulled out in retired hurt.
