Anyone can win a grand slam without Novak competing: Damir Dzumhur

The Bosnian tennis professional has made a controversial remark on Nadal’s 21st Grand Slam triumph at the 2022 Australian Open.

Damir Dzumhur, a Bosnian tennis player has expressed his comments on Rafael Nadal’s 21st Grand Slam record and second Australian Open trophy at Melbourne Park yesterday.

Rafael Nadal, who is now King of Grand Slams with a record of 21st won yesterday at the Rod Laver Arena beating World No. 2 in a long-fought 5 hours and 24 minute match are all in talks. Almost everyone from the sports fraternity has congratulated the standard for his achievement including the rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic who share 20 Grand Slams each.

On the other hand, Damir Dzumhur, a tennis player from Bosnia has stated a controversial statement of Nadal’s attainment. The 29-year-old took over his Instagram and wrote on his story, “Anyone can win a grand slam without Novak competing.”

Novak Djokovic, who was in Melbourne for the first Grand Slam of the year to defend his 21st major was deported while his visa was cancelled twice following a medical exemption and vaccination controversy. The Serb was sent back out of Australia crushed his dream of becoming the man with the most Grand Slam titles in Men’s Singles history that is now accomplished by Rafa yesterday.

While World No. 152 doesn’t really appreciate the 21-times Grand Slam champion’s achievement and think it happened because Novak was not part of the competition, The Serb himself congratulated World No. 5 Rafa for his 21st.
