American professional Sloane Stephens reveals about the abusive messages she recieved after the US Open third round defeat

Sloane Stephens who lost against the German professional Angelique Kerber in the third round of the US Open 2021 received many abusive messages on her social media account.

The American professional tennis player Sloane Stephens opens up on the abusive messages she received after her defeat against the German professional Angelique Kerber in the third-round match of the US Open 2021. The match was held on 4th September, Saturday. Stephens was defeated by 1-2 against the German and her journey was ended with this defeat in the US Open 2021. Despite defeating Kerber in the first set she lost the game.

After this loss, she was sad as she was out of the tournament but some people sent abusive messages to her after this defeat. Sloane receives approximately 2000 racist and abusive messages on her phone which was hard for her to bear. The American decided to show all the abusive and racist messages she received after her loss in the third round. It was very tough for her to read out all the messages but she mustered up the courage and showed all how badly she is been treating by the people.

“I am human, it’s so hard to read messages like these, but I’ll post a few so you guys can see what it’s like. This type of hate is so exhausting and never-ending,” Sloane Stephens said on her Instagram account.

Sloane won the tournament in 2017. It was her first-ever Grand Slam title. She defeated another American professional tennis player in the final match named Madison Keys in US Open 2017.
