Although it was hard to express in words, Novak Djokovic penned down some heartbreaking message following rival Roger Federer’s retirement. The two have shared a great rivalry for over a decade along with Rafael Nadal.
Swiss legend announced yesterday via his social media handle that he will be officially saying goodbye to his competitive career and the upcoming Laver Cup next week in London is going to be his final official tennis tournament. The news broke all over the internet and shocked the sports fraternity. “Roger it’s hard to see this day and put into words all that we have shared in this sport together,” wrote Djokovic on his Instagram post. The Serb further wished luck to the Swiss and thanked him for their relationship on and off the court.
The 20 times Grand Slam champion Federer has not stepped on an official tennis court as a competitor since his quarterfinals exit at the Wimbledon Championships in 2021 where he was defeated by Hubert Hurkcaz of Poland.
