Xavi, the legendary Barcelona midfielder and current coach of FC Barcelona, recently spoke highly of Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag. In a press conference, Xavi praised ten Hag for his coaching abilities and called him a “great coach.”
Xavi’s comments come after Manchester United’s impressive performance in the Europa League this season, where they advanced to the knockout stages as group winners.
“Ten Hag is a great coach, he has done a fantastic job with Ajax,” Xavi said. “He has a clear style of play and his teams are always well-organized and difficult to beat. I have a lot of respect for him and his work.”
Xavi also noted the similarities between ten Hag’s style of play and the philosophy that Barcelona is known for. “He is a coach who values possession and playing an attacking brand of football, which is very similar to the style that we promote at Barcelona,” Xavi said as reported by Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday, 15th February. Manchester United and FC Barcelona will meet each other in the Europa League’s round of 16 tie on 16th February, Thursday.
