World Cup qualifier: Lautaro Martinez contributions ease Copa America champions Argentina beat Venezuela

Argentina FC cruise to beat Venezuela 3-1 in 2022 World Cup Qualification.

On Thursday, Copa America champions Argentina remain in second place in the South America Qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by beating Venezuela 3-1 which was held in the Olimpico Stadium in Caracas.

Venezuela was a man down after a red card was awarded to their defender Adrian Martinez after tackling too harshly and badly on Lionel Messi. The first half started with Argentina dominating with the ball as Messi created a lot of chances in the very 10 minutes. Argentina soon opened their account as Lautaro Martinez scored right at the stroke of halftime which was beautifully assisted by Lo Celso but failed to show an energetic performance despite scoring the first goal as Venezuela performed better tactically but suffered a huge blow when they were a man down during a very crucial match.

The second half of the game started with the visitors of Argentina putting more pressure on Venezuela as he looked like an attack vs defence game. Argentina soon scored the second goal in the 71st minute as he scored a low slow shot on the right beating the keeper after a very sensational play done by both Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez. There was another moment in the match where Martinez’s shot was stopped by the goalkeeper Wuiker Farinez with Angel Correa only bursting the ball over the crossbar.

Argentina added another goal in the 74th minute as they were awarded a penalty with Alejandro Gomez shot beating the goalkeeper as they were 3-0. In the final minute, Venezuela got a lucky goal as they were also awarded a penalty with Yeferson Soltedo scoring it in the final few minutes.
