Andrej Lazarov, born on September 8, 1999, in Kočani, North Macedonia, was a professional footballer renowned for his dedication on the field and his heroic spirit off it. Lazarov began his football journey in the youth systems of FK Metalurg Skopje and later FK Rabotnichki. He made his professional debut with FK Rabotnichki in 2018, accumulating 26 appearances over four years. His career included stints with GFK Tikvesh, NK Rudeš, and HNK Gorica, showcasing his versatility as a central midfielder. In 2024, he joined KF Shkupi, a prominent club in the Macedonian First Football League, where he quickly became a valued team member.
The Nightclub Tragedy
On March 16, 2025, a fire broke out at the Pulse nightclub in Kočani during a concert, leading to a catastrophic loss of life. The blaze claimed 59 lives and injured over 150 individuals. Lazarov was present at the venue and, in a selfless act, attempted to assist others in escaping the inferno. Tragically, he succumbed to smoke inhalation during his rescue efforts.
