Barcelona was not at their best on the night, conceding an early goal in the second half and failing to find a way to break down a tight visitors’ defence, who pulled off a massive upset at Camp Nou to avoid relegation.

There were still positives to be found in Barca’s performance in the first 45 minutes as they started with good pace and rhythm in the attacking third, finding gaps inside the Cadiz defence with good movement in and around the box, and they were particularly dangerous when Ousmane Dembele was involved.

In the first half, the Frenchman dominated every Cadiz defender in his path with his pace and dribbling, as well as putting in dangerous crosses. In what was Barca’s finest chance of the half, he had a powerful shot saved by Ledesma, but the Blaugrana could not reach the back of the net. For the majority of the half, Cádiz defended deep and attacked little.

Barca started the second half conceding a goal in the 48th minute after a cross from the left that caught both Eric Garcia and Clement Lenglet off-guard, Ruben Sobrino forced an amazing double save out of Marc-Andre ter Stegen but Lucas Pérez was first to the rebound and gave Cadiz the lead. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Adama Traore and Luuk De Jong came off the bench.

Barca continued to press and create opportunities, but Ledesma had an outstanding night in goal, making one great stop after another to earn the clean sheet. The final whistle blew and Barca had lost two games in a row at home to clubs they should have beaten.
