Bayern Munich crashed out of the Champions League as Villarreal stun the Bundesliga giants with a late quarter-final winner.  Villarreal snatched a 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich in the 88th minute through substitute Samu Chukwueze and advanced to the Champions League semi-finals for just the second time in their history with a 2-1 aggregate win over the German champions on Tuesday.

Bayern dominated much of the first half, however, they were not able to score. They did manage to tie the score when Robert Lewandowski scored off the post through a low strike in the 52nd minute for his 13th goal of the season. Despite tremendous pressure in the second half and several squandered opportunities, they were unable to score again.

After an unsuccessful second half, Bayern was stunned in the 88th minute as Samu Chukwueze beat Manuel Neuer with a left-footed effort to silence the home crowd.

The Yellow Submarine move on to the semi-final for the second time in their history after 2006. They are set to Liverpool or Benfica in the semifinal.
