UEFA announces goal of the season nominees, Pogba, Dele Alli & Kemar Roofe in the running

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, Tottenham’s Dele Alli and Ranger’s Kemar Roofe are involved in the running nominees for the UEFA goal of the season.

France International and Machester United midfielder Paul Pogba, English midfielder for Premier League side  Tottenham Hotspur Dele Alli and Ranger’s forward Kemar Roofe are among the running nominees for the UEFA’s goal of the season announced.

France midfielder Pogba’s goal is among 10 competitors for the award. The goal he netted was from outside the box for his side against Switzerland at the 2020 European Championship.

Dele Alli’s stunning goal in the Euro 2020 he scored with a bicycle kick against opponent Wolfsberger has made its spot in the list of 2020-21. Ranger forward Roofe netted from the halfway line in the tournament’s group stage fixture of Europa League with Standard Liege succeeded to book its spot in the list.

Meanwhile, the only women footballer to be able to reserve her place in the list is Sarah Zadrazil from Austria International who plays as a midfielder for German side Bayern Munich.

The UEFA stated through their site the way of how the shortlisting was drawn up: “Only goals registered in UEFA club or international competitions between October 2020 and July 2021 we’re eligible for consideration. The ten-goal shortlist was put together by UEFA’s technical observes.”

  • Czech forward Patrik Schick’s second goal against Scotland in the group stage fixture of Euro 2020.
  • Kemar Roofe (Europa League)
  • Florian Wirtz (European Under-21 Championship semi-final)
  • Dele Alli’s strike for his side in the Europa League round of 32-second leg.
  • Lorenzo Insigne (quarter-final of Euro 2020)
  • Paul Pogba’s strike in the 3-3 draws against Switzerland at the 2020 European Championship’s round of 16.
  • Sarah Zadrazil (semi-final of Women’s Champions League)
  • Ferrao (quarter-final of Futsal Champions League)
  • Paulinho (group stage Europa League).
