Arsenal FC and Sporting Lisbon were up against each other in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 first leg tie on Thursday night, 9th March. It was a thrilling game but ended up in a 4 goal draw. Both the teams scored two each in the game and they will have to play at Emirates Stadium (Arsenal’s home stadium) to decide who gets the qualification to the next round.
Arsenal FC players were a bit loose on pitch on Thursday as Sporting Lisbon was taking advantage of them. Sporting had a good game despite Arsenal scored at the very early stage. Arsenal took the lead in the 22nd minute when their central defender William Saliba scored a wonderful goal.
Sporting’s defender Inacio equalised the scoreline in the 34th minute. Sporting was the one who took the lead in the second half. It was their star player Paulinho who put the Portuguese’ side in lead. Minutes later, own goal from Morita equalised it again and Arsenal got saved.
Arsenal did try to score the winner but couldn’t find the back of the net in any of their chances.
