Transfer Official: Caleb Wiley completes Chelsea transfer

Chelsea announced the signing of United States international Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United for £8.5 million plus a sell-on clause. The left-back has signed a six-year contract, with an option for a further year, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until June 2030.

Wiley, 19, joined Atlanta’s academy at 11 years old and progressed through their youth set-up. He spent 2020 and 2021 with Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship before making the step up to the first team ahead of the 2022 season. Wiley enjoyed a memorable debut by scoring in a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City and made 25 further appearances during his maiden campaign.

In the 2023 season, Wiley established himself at senior level with 36 appearances and made his USMNT debut in October 2023 in a 1-1 draw against Mexico. He has been a regular for Atlanta this term, with 23 appearances across all competitions.

Wiley is currently with the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team in Paris as they prepare to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games.
