Thomas Muller has renewed his contract with Bayern Munich for another two years, which will keep him with the German champions until 2024. Muller has won it all at Bayern, including the Bundesliga title 10 times in a row since 2013 and two Champions League titles. Muller and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer were said to be close to signing new contracts with Bayern Munich in late April.
The club released an official statement on its official website confirming the contract extension in which Muller stated that he is happy to extend his contract with the club until 2024. He added that he is proud to wear the red jersey year after year, on and off the pitch.
The club’s CEO Oliver Kahn’s statement read that Muller is an icon who wears the club badge in his heart. Kahn also said that Muller assumes leadership responsibilities and with his personality, is an important player in the dressing room.
Hasan Salihamidzic, sporting director of Bayern Munich stated one cannot imagine Thomas Muller without FC Bayern and vice versa. He also praised Muller for his leadership qualities and said that he is a role model that embodies what the club represents.
During his professional career, Muller has appeared in 624 competitive matches and has won 11 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues, the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and 6 DFB Cups with FC Bayern. In 2014 he won the World Cup with Germany in Brazil.
