The FC Barcelona vs Sevilla game this weekend will be postponed as was requested by both of the clubs. The High Council of Sports (HCD) gave a decision in the favour of both parties who wanted to delay the match. The fixture between these two teams was supposed to take place on Saturday 11th of September at 9 PM CET and was going to be played at Sevilla’s home ground, Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville but as of now, this match won’t happen on this date.

The request was made after an intervention by the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee who came out against the La Liga wished for the fixtures between Sevilla and Barça and Villarreal and Alavés to be postponed.

On the 29th of August, La Liga released a press statement saying that they requested the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to delay these two games from this week’s fixtures well as to change the kick-off times of the other fixtures.

La Liga failed in their injunction against FIFA on their decision to extend the time the South American players will represent their countries in the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS).

The recent decision was taken by the league as there will be players who return to their clubs on Friday after having played three games during the international break and most of them will have games on Saturday and Sunday which makes it clear that the players will not be in any state to play on an equal footing.
