Manchester City hit Leicester City for six on the Premier League boxing day. It was one of the best performances by Pep Guardiola’s men on Boxing day. Man City has now gone six points clear of Liverpool who is in the second position in the Premier League. However, the Reds still have one game in hand after their match against Leeds United which was scheduled to be held on Boxing day was postponed. Man City was with their regular first-team players but due to some injury and COVID-19 issues, Brendon Rodgers had to rotate his squad for this game.

Manchester City was so good in the first half that they were 4-0 up in just 25 minutes. Leicester City had one of the poor performances of the season in the first half against Man City on Sunday. Guardiola’s men started the scoring in just 5 minutes after the referee’s whistle when Kevin De Bruyne scored a superb goal from his left foot. The second goal was scored by Riyad Mahrez which came from the penalty spot after Tielemans made a silly challenge in the box in the 13th minute. Table-toppers Manchester City was 3-0 up in the 21st minute as Ilkay Gundogan scored after the ball was deflected from the goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. The fourth goal was scored by Raheem Sterling from the penalty spot which was again given away by Leicester’s midfielder Tielemans.

Despite having such a wonderful first half, Man City was not able to cope up with that lead as they conceded 3 goals in quick succession in the second half. Leicester City’s midfielder Maddison was the one who started the scoring for the visitors in the 55th minute. Then, Lookman and forward Iheanacho scored the 2nd and 3rd goals respectively which gave a little bit of hope to the visitors. But, Man City had different plans as they again regained the 2 goals lead after defender Laporte scored an easy header from the corner. Thus, keeping possessions for some time after the 5th goal, City found their 6th goal as well which was scored by Raheem Sterling which was his second of the match. Now, with this huge 6-3 victory, Pep Guardiola’s blues are looking more comfortable at the top and it seems it will be difficult for other Premier League teams to get past them this season.
