Gaya was taken out at the 75th minute during the match against Georgia which Spain was winning 4-0 as he had a muscle injury. The federation has stated that the left-back from Valencia CF will have to undergo further tests but as a precautionary measure, he will b removed from the squad.
Gaya was one of the several changes made by Enrique after his side’s 2-1 loss against Sweden last week. The manager was proved correct when the left-back scored the first goal for them against Georgia with a shot from outside the penalty box early in the first half of the match.
Reguilon who plays as a left-back/left wing-back for Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in the Premier League will join the Spain squad to train with them for their upcoming match against Kosovo.
Centre Back Aymeric Laporte was also substituted in the match against Georgia because of an injury he suffered during the game and also is unlikely to play the qualifier game against Kosovo.
Spain still leads Group B of the UEFA Fifa World Cup Qualification Rounds with Sweden being behind them by just a point but they still have two games in hand along with their recent win against the leaders of the group. Sweden will face Greece next at Athens while Spain will play Kosovo in Pristina.
