Manchester City are out of the Carabao Cup for only the second time under Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City are out of the Carabao Cup after they were defeated by Southampton FC on Wednesday night, 11th January. The game was played at St. Mary’s stadium. It was a proper game for the underdogs Southampton as they scored two without a reply in the game.

The Premier League’s defending champions Manchester City has lost only their second game in EFL Cup since Pep Guardiola has taken charge. Southampton FC scored two goals in the game and both came in the first half. The gap between the two goals from Southampton was only 5 minutes.

The first goal of the game was scored by the striker named S. Mara in the 23rd minute. 5 minute later that goal, Djenepo scored a wonder outside the box. Djenepo saw that the City’s goalkeeper Ortega was out of his line and he curled the ball past him from a long distance.

The goal from Djenepo was the match-winner and this was the first time since 2018 that Manchester City didn’t have a shot on target in any game. Now Southampton FC will face Newcastle United in the Semifinals of the competition.
