Senior women’s National Football Championship to kick-off today, four venues approved by AIFF

Senior women’s National Football Championship is all set to kick-off in Kerala from 28 November to 9 December in four different venues approved by AIFF executive committee.

The senior women’s National Football Championship (NFC) decided to kick off in four venues across Kerala from 28  November and will conclude on 9 December. Four venues in Kerala which got approved by the (AIFF) All India Football Federation’s executive committee where the matches will be going to be held are – Municipal Stadium (Kuthuparamba), Kozhikode and Calicut Medical College (Kozhikode), Calicut University, EMS Corporation Stadium. The Committee Executive of AIFF had also complimented the state government for its unprecedented support for the development of Indian Football. There will 32 teams be participating in this tournament, the teams have been divided into eight groups of four teams each, who are set to play against each other for the qualifying stage. The teams who succeed in the entitling match will go forward to play the semi-finals, with the two winners from the last four proceeding to the finals.

The team divided into groups is as follows:

Group A:  Manipur, Daman & Diu, Pondicherry, Meghalaya
Group B:  Railways, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Tripura
Group C:  Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Bihar
Group D:  Jharkhand, Delhi, Goa, Karnataka
Group E:  Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim, Maharashtra
Group F:  Odisha, Haryana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh
Group G:  Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Mizoram, Uttarakhand
Group H:  Tamil Nadu, Punjab, West Bengal, Telangana.

The senior women’s national team is preparing for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup India 2022 which will commence in January 2022.

This was the first time any Indian Senior National Team lock horns with Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela in their three matches, all of which was part of their preparation for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022. The squad had been camping in Jamshedpur with infrastructural and logistical aid from the Government of Jharkhand over the last four months.

Last month, Indian women toured Dubai, Bahrain, and Sweden for their six friendly matches, and earlier in 2021, they toured Serbia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan for international exposure tours.
